Austin Ruhland has been working in the construction industry since he was 15 years old. Austin started by helping his uncle in new construction by cleaning up the job site and distributing tools all while soaking up the construction knowledge. As he got older Austin progressed into more and more extensive roles on the job site. He then graduated from Gehlen Catholic High School in LeMars, Iowa and attended Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa for Business Administration and to play football for the Duhawks. During the summers Austin worked for a general contractor, Kuchel Homes in Okoboji, Iowa. During this time Austin built high-end condos and lake homes on both East and West Lake Okoboji.
The housing market was on a slippery slope at this time pushing him to start rehabbing single family homes. Austin completed and sold his first rehab in 2007. He then started remodeling and rehabbing single-family homes in Des Moines, Iowa; while working for two large investors. Austin has since completed over 34 single family home rehabs and 4 commercial remodels. After relocating to Fort Collins, Colorado in 2011 Austin has continued his business as a contractor for Home Spun Construction, LLC. As a self-employed contractor, Austin has completed many single family home rehabs, commercial remodels, urban agriculture remodels, custom remodels and many independent remodels for families in the Northern Colorado Area.
